$2.25 Remington 24 (1972) Packed with 4 paper napkins.

Sometimes you get what you paid for and you get more than you expected.  Perhaps the $2.25 dollar price was less than the seller was expecting… so they packed it based on worth.  4 paper napkins.  I feel great gratitude to the USPS for the delivery of this machine in a manner that allowed it to arrive in a still working condition.  Any poor handling at all and this machine would have been in pieces… and not functional in any way.  Great JOB U.S. Post Office. Thank you!! to all those who took care with this package that was not even marked fragile… it arrived working (what more could anyone ask).

12mph Bowling ball…

Went bowling… the facility tracks the speed of your bowling ball (guess I spent my years at older alley’s)… I found myself watching the speed results more than the score.  Instead of being concerned about the lane conditions and placement of the ball; I kept thinking (can I get it up to 20!)… then I threw my arm out.  I can see how this added information can be helpful… I just bowled for 50 years without knowing it.  The screen animations also showed suggested placements of the ball to pick-up spares… and people seem to be bringing more balls to select from.  I recall when I moved up to two (dry lanes/wet lane) and considered a ball just for spares (which would bring my total up to four) and stopped… having a great score every game just did not mean that much to me…  I decided I could be happy with my two balls.

Getting real… or close to it.

There was a commercial… “Is it real or is it memorex?” Which did not bother me so much… when you knew that the person on the recording could really sing.  That group “Milli Vanilli” (singing duo that won a Grammy in 1990 for best album… only thing they did not sing on it).

What’s real anymore? In the news a man claimed to work for the CIA… claimed to be a veteran and for over a decade pulled it off. Worked a 4 day week. Claimed to travel overseas only to be in Massachusetts. Traveled 1st class and got a special parking space for a bad back (service related) when he was never in the military.

Not to mention the investment folks that did not invest anything.

They were able to achieve this because of one word “Trust”.

We want to believe in people and believe in what they do and what they say.

At the end of the day one could become cynical and not trust anyone… or one can still believe in things we can not see (Faith).

So despite the evidence that much is not as it seems to be… I will keep letting folks think I’m a cranky curmudgeon  and trust anyway.

So far so good… 8 months with a 1923 Underwood 3-Bank

Wow… 8 months I’ve had this 3-Bank.  At first I loved the action but it keep skipping and the space bar did not always advance.  I bought a “donor” and now it works great.  So good infact I got distracted and performed poorly as a typist… I kept expecting it to mess up and stop working… but it did not.  Happy… Happy… Joy… Joy!!!
