Today… I am resting with the flu and trying and hoping it’s just a 24 hour sort of thing and at best 48.

Among the many things I have strived for this year is to end each day on a upswing. No matter what the day may have been… I want to end on a positive. I think of my typewriters as a “muse” of joy. I only want positive thoughts to end up on my page. I wish for each day to end and begin with peaceful thoughts and hopes. Not a bad way to approach life.
10 months ago I bought a factory rebuilt Woodstock… there was a stripped gear that caused the carriage to skip and advance and slip… I put coins between the space when the screw holding the gear in place was stripped… it has held up very well with this cheap fix. In fact I started with a quarter and a cent;  now only need a dime and a cent.
My favorite post on this typewriter is… my favorite post with this typewriter are from September 2012… Wisdom Tooth and thoughts on my father’s father… RH
As you can see from this May 10, 2012 post the type has cleaned up nicely.
Improving the way we think by playing games. Mind-training. Why not… our brains are mental muscles that need exercise to strive. When I came across an article about a company called Lumosity I thought I would give it a try (as have 35 million others) and over time its like going to the gym (you feel better)… so why not keep going. Note: The fifth area is Memory… not Attention twice. Memory is my lowest score.
Discovery often is just seeing something old in a new way. Yesterday day I put into context the age of my Royal 5 (100 years) and the lightness of its key action. Today I sit behind a 1930’s Burroughs and start to love it… just the way it is. My perception has changed.
There was a time when I would take every alternative route possible to go anywhere. Every trip was an opportunity to just see another part of the country. Then slowly time became important and I drove to get somewhere and trips became less interesting. When the journey is half the fun… less is expected of the destination. Sometimes just the going is worth the trip.
We have come a long way from communication by smoke signal, drums, flashing mirrors, telegraph… and when I pick up my 2005 Generation 3000 Typewriter I want to laugh at how modern technology makes a lesser typewriter than it did 50 years ago. Still… by calling it the Generation 3000 I look to the future and what can… could… will be.
Odd to consider the range of emotions and perceptions a mere typewriter can cause. One day I buy a typewriter someone had painted yellow… I just want to try out a Corona 3. I type a little and think… okay… then do a little touch up the paint comes off. Then it transforms into a mystery. I start to use it more. I consider what other 3-bank typewriters might be like. The Corona 3 becomes more special to me… why? It’s only a typewriter! It was made to type on… so I type.
Gee…
