2017 xmas thoughts…
That time of year… time to spread some joy as if it were peanut butter on bread!
5 sheets to the “win”!
A funny thing happened on my way to the l946 KMM, I put in 5 sheets of paper and the typewriter acted with speed, grace & perfection. I had to check to make sure I was not using a Underwood. Less than 5 sheets it skips… more than 6 it freezes up… at 5 MAGIC!!
158 sent, 50 typed…
After typing 50 letters using my typewriters… my fingers seek out the Underwood’s. Not that other machines don’t do a great job… the touch wants what the touch want!
1962 Royal Futura 800 is a true “workhorse”
After typing 5 letters in a row with my 1956 Remington Travel-Riter, the ribbon started to snag… I switched to my 1962 Royal Futura and it’s able to handle a dozen pages in a row without issue… keeps asking for more paper!
I type for America
After mailing off 115 letters to members of congress using my computer… I’ve gotten back 1 meaningful response. As a result I will switch to using my typewriter in the hopes that a “pitch” of civil interactions and debate will have more impact when the words were typed by a real human hand… (plus using a typewriter is more fun)!

I was watching the movie “Our Brand is Crisis” which is about American Political consultants who go throughout the world to win elections. The only thing that means anything is to win… The movie is fiction… but so much sounds true!!

I saw this for $32.00… guess no one saw what I did. It’s a neat typewriter to own… even if its not the greatest of typewriters.
The better computers became, the more I wanted a typewriter…
It’s been over 40 years when my job sat me behind a computer terminal… 30 years since I bought my first PC… I use a computer everyday… but for fun I use a typewriter!
