Mr. Ernie Banks… moves on to the “Field of Dreams”
Nice guys stay in our hearts long after “winners” crash and burn in our soul… You can not take away awards and honor from those who gave honest effort and the best within them. Thank you: Ernie… number 14!

I have a photo of me at about 6 or 7 with Ernie Banks, it’s the only sports ephemera I’ve ever had really, and I only have a smell memory of that occasion: damp dirt, sweat soaked wool. I’m sorry to hear he’s gone, and this is a nice remembrance of him, thanks! (:

Good looking bat and typewriter.

When there was less money in sports… the players seemed to appreciate the fans more and the joy of being able to get paid to play.

Thanks for sharing this… it brought back thoughts of my first cub game.
