Snow day… holiday… type day!
I have snow tires for my bicycle… there is snow and Ice on the road… but today I decide the road does not need me on it.
Featherweight is no lightweight….
The more I use the Hermes Featherweight it grows in stature…
Hermes Media is a player….
I associate Media and Player so much that each time I use this 1939 Hermes I think (Player) and the fact is; it is a real player.
Contrasts in type…
TV had a documentary on Facing Ali (2009) the contrast between the fighters in their prime and today was quite dramatic. I believe all concerned would be under 70 years old and for some the toll has been high… yet they all come across proud of their achievements and do not complain about the price paid. Which in the end is a great example of how to live a life.

Unsigned 1959 Hermes 8 Standard…
I signed my Hermes 8 typewriter. Took its picture… then decided it had more value without the signature. So I removed it….
Final bicycle prep…
The Claud Butler is ready to return to Iowa after almost 10 years. I crossed the state four times on this bike; then a storm tossed it across a field. I put it into semi-retirement after that. But when you put over 5,000 miles on a bike you think…. why not another 1,000 and after this years ride across Iowa I will pass the 6,000 mile mark of use.
I always give a typewriter a second look…
My first impressions are often correct… but knowing I can be wrong I keep my mind open for changes in perspective. I find life more interesting that way.
Before the green: the 1939 (black) Hermes Media… a simplified 2000
It may be a simplified Hermes 2000, but it is one sweet machine. I like the logo on the right side (not sure what it is) but it looks cool. From what I’ve read when this was introduced in 1936 it lacked a back space key and ribbon selector (both added by 1939). Also on the 2000 in the rear was a knob for adjusting velocity.
