1966 – 2013… the world has improved in many ways…

The world is kinder in many ways than it was 50 years ago.  As much as fear… and random evil is everywhere.  The ability to see beyond appearance has allowed many to have opportunity and has expanded the quality of life for me.  It is a …wonderful world…

All posts still free… at Typeoh… no charge… unlimited reading….

Today I went to read an on-line article of a major newspaper and a pop-up declared I had to sign up for digital plus… this was free as long as I read no more than 5 articles a month (I’ve been known to read that many in a hour).  Not sure if the less interesting… less detailed articles will remain free… I don’t mine paying for news… I but 5 free a month?  That’s not enough for me to get a feel for the depth and breath of the newspaper to want to read all the time and subscribe.

Any way… Typeoh is still free for anyone to read.  Unlimited reading all day… everyday.

Do or not do… that is the question

Was it Star Wars?  Yoda saying… “no try… its do or not do?”  Never fully in sync with that.  Trying is doing.  To not try is “nothing”.   Success if often just the effort.  Not the end result.  I look back and think I should have tried more often.  There are also things I tried and would not repeat…  still as the poem goes… the worse thing in life is “if”…

I bought the ribbon…

I wanted a phrase to show I’m into typewriters…. “drank the Kool-Aid” seemed to extreme.  I’m not so absorbed that I live and think typewriters… but I can see my self five to ten years from now still owning and using them.  So I thought… I bought the ribbon might as well use it.

I take apart my Tom Thumb…

Sometimes you just want to see if you can improve things.  This is a toy after all… designed for people who don’t have a clue.  Back in December I got good results from my Tom Thumb… but it did not last… so I decided to see if I could improve things… I like to think I did but compared to Dec maybe not  but better than Jan…  (or not… but it was going down hill and only got worse).  The Remie Scout works great and has many decades of life left.  The Tom Thumb will only last that long on a shelf.
