Today’s news was a fire at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon… which destroyed the lodge there (built in the 1930’s). It struck me that what I saw when I was there is gone and will never be the same. Even places that are set aside to visit and take in the natural wonders can vanish in a moments notice. The rest of 2025 the North Rim of the Grand Canyon will be closed… I can at least go through my pictures and memories. Just a reminder that we should take in the wonder’s of the world and just celebrate what is for just being part of this place we call earth.
Sad. Those old lodges and hotels in the National Parks are magnificent and probably impossible to re-create.
Sad is how I felt… even the gas station that I used is gone… many of the cabins are gone as well. I have many fond memories of the North Rim that stay. I hope they rebuild with style.
