The road back…

I like to think that now that I am back riding my bicycle… things will return to the way they were. Only way to find out is to pedal until they do.

  1. Like Bob Dylan’s song, The Times, They Are A Changin’ no matter who thinks otherwise. I think the changes are for the better. to me the most aggravating part of any broadcast politcal discussion or speech is the blasted news liberals telling me what I heard the speaker say or put their news liberal spin onto it.

    Happy biking.

    1. Times are better and great progress has been achieved, finding that common ground will allow for a stronger better future when trust, character and goodwill means more than power, wealth and winning.

  2. I always, always, enjoy reading your reflections. Although you live in Iowa, I believe, and I live in Mississippi, although I am white, and you are black, although I have no idea what political affiliation you have, and I describe myself as “a Reagan Republican who no longer has a party,” I feel quite a connection to the feelings you express.

I too love typewriters. I teach high school and have two manuals in my classroom. On my desk is a 1938 L.C. Smith “Superspeed,” that I inherited from my grandparents, and on a book case is my mother’s 1957 Royal that she took to college. Although each of these loved ones have passed away, it means a great deal to me every time I place my hands where their hands were placed, press the keys their fingers pressed, and hear the clickity-clack of metal striking paper.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. Oh, I also have about 7-8 other typewriters (manuals) at home. I’ve lost count, because I’ve gotten in the habit of giving them away, or loaning them to the library as exhibits.

    1. I just believe that understanding starts with interactions and regardless of differing views, people can get along, work together and promote a better world.
