This 1908 Underwood, had a odd looking lever. Turned out to be a backspacer. Which is why several years ago I had to have it.

I agree, nothing types as nice as an Underwood. Smith-Corona and Royal are nice. Remington can be ok, Olympia are slow, and the list goes on.
A good condition well adjusted Underwood 5 will type like a dream.
