One of my machines which I use to type quite often, an early Underwood 3 bank, simply doesn’t have the luxury of an automatic ribbon reversal. Often times when I am typing off of copy, I will look up and see that my sentences have faded into nothingness. You are indeed correct in that one must pay incredible attention when using a machine of yesteryear.
