Corona thoughts…

Odd to consider the range of emotions and perceptions a mere typewriter can cause.  One day I buy a typewriter someone had painted yellow… I just want to try out a Corona 3.  I type a little and think… okay… then do a little touch up the paint comes off.  Then it transforms into a mystery.  I start to use it  more.  I consider what other 3-bank typewriters might be like.  The Corona 3 becomes more special to me… why?  It’s only a typewriter!  It was made to type on…  so I type.

Gee…

When using a 100 year old typewriter... type...

  1. I tend to agree with that thought. My oldest machine is a 1920 Underwood #5 that had been rather poorly repainted black & green sometime in the ’40’s by some typewriter shop. I initially wanted to remove the old paint, and actually started to, but eventually decided to leave it after getting attached to the color and noting that the labels were going to be damaged anyway.

Now I think of it as just a workhorse typer that’s fun to type on, and never really get intimidated by worrying about damaging it. (:
